Every two minutes a child under five dies from a preventable WASH-related disease. That’s a number we’re on a mission to change for good. Across all of the Vision of a Healthy Village programs that we have implemented, we have observed a median reduction in child diarrhea of 90%.

The communities we serve are also equipped with better menstrual health and hygiene for girls. With safe water and consistent hygiene practices like these, children are able to attend school not only healthy but with clean clothing, which is a requirement in many schools in the areas we serve.

When families aren’t spending their income on treating WASH-related illnesses or their time walking for water, they can invest in things like running a business and education. In fact, every dollar invested in WASH yields a $21 return to the community, highlighting the broader economic impact of these initiatives.

The water crisis disproportionately affects women. With 80% of households worldwide not having reliable water, women and girls are tasked with gathering it, pulling them away from work and school, and trapping them in inequality. Women and children benefit significantly from improved water access, freeing them from the burdens of water collection and allowing them to pursue education and other opportunities.
