How Water for Good Partners with Churches to Share the Gospel

At Water for Good, we believe that access to safe water is just one part of lasting transformation. True flourishing also means knowing and sharing the love of Christ. That’s why in every country we serve, we partner closely with local churches to help meet both physical and spiritual needs.

Through our WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) programs, we come alongside churches not just to tangibly improve public health, but to help them serve their communities and share the hope of the gospel in meaningful, lasting ways.

Melesiana is a widow and mother of four, living in a rural village in Tanzania. For years, she struggled with addiction, isolation, and poor health. “Before, nobody had ever told me about Jesus,” she shared. “I was desperate. I drank heavily, and it affected my life and my children.”

That began to change when a local church, working alongside Water for Good’s team, invited her to an evangelistic gathering. The church was part of a broader effort to improve community well-being by pairing WASH training with spiritual support. A neighbor, who was trained as a WASH facilitator, encouraged Melesiana to attend.

On the third day of the gathering, she made a life-changing decision: she accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior.

After that, everything began to shift for Melesiana. She joined a local church and began participating in Bible study. With support from her new community, she also took part in hygiene and sanitation training. She built an improved latrine, started using a handwashing station, and began treating and storing her water safely. These simple changes dramatically improved her family’s health.

“As you can see, I look younger now,” she said with a laugh. “I stopped drinking. I started saving money instead—and now my children go to a better school.”

Today, Melesiana is a living example of what’s possible when physical health and spiritual renewal come together. “I am thankful to God for His grace that changed my life,” she says. “And I thank the church for walking with me and showing me a new way.”

This is the heart of what we do at Water for Good—we equip churches to be agents of transformation, sharing clean water and the hope of Christ in communities that need both.
