Luisiana, a bright 13-year-old girl with an unyielding spirit, lives in the small village in the Central African Republic. Born with a disability, Luisiana has faced more than her fair share of challenges. But perhaps one of her biggest obstacles wasn’t just her physical condition but the daily struggle of accessing safe water—a task that once overshadowed her education.
“Before the new water point was installed, I had to travel to the forest to collect unsafe water from the local spring,” Luisiana shared. The long and physically demanding journey left her exhausted, often resulting in missed classes and poor academic performance. “I would be late for school, and I didn’t have time to study or do my homework. Some days, I had to cut classes altogether.”
The heavy burden of water collection not only compromised her health but also her dream of a good education. Without clean water near her home, the focus on learning took a back seat, and Luisiana’s future seemed uncertain.
